Price

What a tyre change costs

NOK 699 is the fixed price for a small car, read straight from our catalogue — the same figure the booking shows. An SUV adds 30 per cent and a van 40 per cent to the base price, as across the rest of the car catalogue, and the table shows the total for each size.

Balancing is not included, and we do not have tyre storage yet — tyre storage is coming. Both are explained in the questions further down.

Home or workshop

Why at home instead of a workshop

Winter wheels go on when the daily mean temperature drops below 7 °C — in Vestfold usually in the second half of October. Then everyone wants it done the same week. The change itself takes under an hour wherever it is done; the difference is the drive, the queue and the waiting around it.

  • At your place

    NOK 699 · around 45 minutes

We come to where the car stands and change the wheels while you do something else — indoors, at work or in a meeting.

    • No drive, no queue, no waiting room
    • Torque wrench to the manufacturer's value, in a star pattern
    • The hub face brushed clean before each wheel goes on
  • At a workshop

    A drive and a wait

A good workshop does the same job, and has equipment we do not carry. You have to get the car there and wait your turn.

    • Balancing, which needs the workshop's machine
    • Tyre storage, if the wheels are to be stored
    • Often a wait in the weeks around the season change
  • Yourself in the driveway

    Free · a cold hour

Perfectly fine if you have the kit. What is most often missing is the torque wrench — a wheel brace tells you nothing about how tight the bolts are.

    • The jack goes on the car's designated lifting point
    • A torque wrench and the manufacturer's value for your car
    • Re-tightening after 50–100 km

How we do it

Four steps, around 45 minutes

The same order every time, and every step has a reason.

  1. Lift at the right point

The car is lifted at the designated jacking point, one wheel at a time, and stands steady on the other three while we work.

  2. Clean hub face, checked bolts

Rust and road grime are brushed off the hub face before the wheel goes on, so the rim sits flat. Bolts and threads are checked for damage.

  3. Torque wrench, star pattern

The bolts are tightened to the value the manufacturer gives for your car, with a torque wrench and in a star pattern.

  4. Pressure, tread and TPMS

Tyre pressure is set on all four, tread depth is checked, and we make sure any TPMS warning goes out. The wheels that come off are brushed clean before they are put away.

What we need from you

The wheels have to be on site when we arrive — in the garage, shed or carport, or in the car if we change them at work. The car must stand on firm, level ground; gravel and steep slopes do not work. If you are at work, we agree on the key and the parking spot in advance. Re-tighten the bolts after 50–100 km.

Questions and answers

Common questions about tyre changes

What does a tyre change cost for an SUV or a van?

NOK 699 is the fixed price for a small car. An SUV adds 30 per cent to the base price and costs NOK 908.70; a van adds 40 per cent and costs NOK 978.60. Travel is free for the first 5 km from Skiringsalgaten 6 B, then NOK 20 per km — the full total is shown at checkout before you pay.

Is balancing included?

No. We fit complete wheels — tyres already mounted on rims — and balancing needs a balancing machine that lives in a workshop. If you feel vibration in the steering wheel at speed after the change, it is usually the balancing, and we will tell you so you can get it done where it can be done.

Do the wheels need re-tightening?

Yes. Wheel bolts settle over the first kilometres, so every wheel should be re-tightened after 50 to 100 km — whoever changed them. We remind you before we leave. If you do not have a torque wrench yourself, a workshop can do it in a couple of minutes.

What about tyre pressure sensors (TPMS)?

If the car has TPMS, the sensors sit in each wheel, and we handle them without damaging them. After the change many cars need a few minutes of driving before the system reads the new wheels, and some need a reset in the menu. We check that the warning goes out, and show you the reset if your car needs it.

Do you offer tyre storage?

Not yet — tyre storage is coming. Until then we change the wheels where you are, and they have to be on site when we arrive: in the garage, shed, carport or in the car. We do not take wheels with us afterwards. If your wheels are in storage somewhere today, they need to be collected before the appointment.

Can I be at work while you change them?

Yes, many people have it done in the car park at work. The car has to be accessible on firm ground with the wheels nearby, and we agree on the key or access in advance so nobody is left waiting. We are open 09–20 every day.
