Car detailing — prices, polishing and paint

What does polishing a car cost?

A 1-step polish costs NOK 2,399, a 2-step NOK 3,699 and a 3-step NOK 6,499. Those are base prices for a small car; an SUV adds 30 per cent and a van 40 per cent, calculated in before you book. Washing, degreasing and paint decontamination are included in all three steps.

Polishing removes scratches that sit in the clear coat. If you can feel the scratch with a fingernail it usually goes deeper, and then only respraying helps — we say so before we start.

Car polishing — the three steps with prices and timings
What is the difference between a 1-, 2- and 3-step polish?

The number of passes over the paint. The 1-step at NOK 2,399 is a single pass that lifts the gloss and takes light scratches. The 2-step at NOK 3,699 is cutting that removes a large share of the scratches, followed by refinement. The 3-step at NOK 6,499 adds a third, finer stage and removes most scratches and wash marks.

The condition of the paint decides, not the age of the car. We look over the paint in raking light before we start, and say so if a lower step gives the same result.

What does ceramic coating cost — and is it worth it?

Ceramic coating costs NOK 8,999 for a small car, with the three-step polish at NOK 6,499 included as preparation. It is worth it if you want chemical protection and deep gloss for several years: the paint becomes easier to wash, and road salt, tar and bird droppings get a poorer grip.

The honest caveat: coating does not protect against stone chips. The layer is thin and hard, not shock-absorbing — what stops stones is paint protection film, not coating.

Ceramic coating NOK 8,999 — what the layer does and how long it lasts
How often should a car be polished?

By condition, not by calendar. Most cars manage two to four years between polishes, while a car that goes through a brush wash every month may need it yearly. Polishing takes a little clear coat each time, so less often is better for the paint over time.

The Norwegian winter is the big factor: road salt, grit and rotating brushes leave swirl marks that only become visible when the spring sun sits low. If you see fine circles in raking light, it is time.

How do I remove tree sap from my car?

Soften it, do not scrape. Lay a cloth dampened with hot water or isopropyl alcohol over the sap for half a minute, then wipe it away with light pressure. If it still holds, it has cured into the paint, and then degreasing and decontamination are what release it — not harder pressure.

Sap left in the sun etches down into the clear coat and leaves a dull ring even after the blob is gone. The Exterior+ wash at NOK 1,200 takes sap, tar and insects in the same pass.

Exterior+ NOK 1,200 — sap, tar and insects removed gently
What is iron fallout, and why does my car have tiny rust specks?

Iron fallout is metal dust from brakes and railway lines that has embedded itself in the clear coat and rusted there. The specks are orange-brown, sit most often on the bonnet, roof and tailgate, and they do not come from the car's own steel — your paint is not rusting from within.

The fix is a decontamination with an iron remover and clay, which pulls the particles out instead of grinding them in. It is the first stage of all our polishes, and afterwards the paint feels smooth.

1-step polish NOK 2,399 — decontamination and machine polishing in one visit
How long does a polish or a car wash take?

Set aside around five hours for a 1-step polish, eight for a 2-step and twelve for a 3-step. An ordinary exterior and interior wash takes one to two hours. Much of the polishing time goes on washing, degreasing and decontamination before the machine even starts.

We are open every day from 09:00 to 20:00, so a 3-step is normally booked early in the day. The work happens where the car stands, so the hours are spent at yours and not at a workshop.

What does an interior car wash cost, and what separates standard from deep clean?

The exterior and interior wash costs NOK 1,100 and covers full vacuuming, wiping of the dashboard and door panels, and windows inside and out. The interior deep clean costs NOK 1,500 and goes further: detailed cleaning of the dashboard, centre console, mirrors, interior glass and boot.

The interior part of the NOK 1,100 wash is wiping and vacuuming; the deep clean tackles what has settled in. If the car smells, has stains in the fabric or years of dust in the seams, the deep clean is the right one.

How do I get rid of a smell in the car?

Remove the source first, then the air. Air-conditioning cleaning with ozone treatment costs NOK 1,800: the ducts are disinfected and ozone breaks down odour molecules throughout the cabin. It is the treatment that works on smoke, pet odour and the damp smell from an old system.

If the smell sits in the textiles they have to be cleaned before the ozone. The interior deep clean at NOK 1,500 or pet hair removal at NOK 599 takes the source — ozone alone gives a result that comes back.

A/C cleaning and ozone NOK 1,800 — ducts and cabin in the same visit
What does headlight restoration cost, and does it help at the roadworthiness test?

Headlight restoration costs NOK 1,000 for two headlights and NOK 1,500 for four — per car, not per headlight. Yellowed, hazy lenses let less light through, and the beam pattern becomes weak and diffuse. Polishing removes the oxidised layer and gives the beam its sharpness back.

At the roadworthiness test it is the light that is assessed, not how pretty the lens looks. If the haze is why the light is weak, polishing helps; if the reflector behind the lens is damaged, the headlight has to be replaced.

Do you come to my home?

Yes. The detailing is mobile: we come to where the car stands — on the drive, in the garage or in a visitor's bay — and bring our own water and power. The first five kilometres from Skiringsalgaten 6 B are included in the price, after that the rate is NOK 20 per kilometre.

The travel fee is calculated from the address you give us and shown, fully worked out, in the booking before you confirm. What we need on site is room around the car and dry working conditions: fair weather, a carport or a garage.

What should I do to the paint before winter?

Put a protective layer on clean paint before the salt arrives. Wax protection is the simple layer and goes on during the same visit as the wash. Ceramic coating at NOK 8,999 is the hard alternative that stands for years. Underbody salt removal costs NOK 499 and is repeated through the winter.

The order matters: wash and decontamination first, protection afterwards. Wax laid over road salt and iron fallout locks the dirt in rather than keeping it out.

Exterior and interior wash NOK 1,100 — wax and salt removal added in the booking
What does detailing cost for an SUV or a van?

All our car prices are the base price for a small car. An SUV adds 30 per cent and a van 40 per cent, and the markup is calculated line by line on both the service and the add-ons you choose. The total is worked out in the booking before you pay — not left as a size category.

The reason for the markup is surface and time: more square metres of paint require more passes, more product and a longer working day. Saloon, hatchback and estate all count as a small car.

What does sale preparation cost?

Sale preparation costs NOK 6,500 and is a complete detail inside and out with a 1-step polish on the paint, so the car is at its best for viewings and advertisement photographs. A photo session at NOK 1,500 can be added, so the pictures are taken straight after the treatment.

If the car is going back after a lease rather than being sold, the Lease Return Detail at NOK 2,499 is the targeted version. Headlight restoration at NOK 1,000 for two is what shows most on the front in the photographs.

Cleaning and home

Cleaning and home — move-out cleans, roofs and facades

What does a move-out clean cost per square metre?

A move-out clean costs NOK 87 per square metre, and the formula is published: the floor area is multiplied by 87, then 30 per cent is added per floor beyond the first and 15 per cent per bathroom beyond the first. A 70 m² flat on one floor with one bathroom comes to 70 × 87 = NOK 6,090.

The surcharges are stated as numbers because they are real working time: another floor means stairs and another round with the equipment, another bathroom means one more full limescale and disinfection clean. The sum is there before you book.

Move-out cleaning NOK 87 per m² — the formula, the guarantee and what is included
What is included in a move-out clean?

Every room from ceiling to floor: inside cupboards and drawers, white goods inside and out, doors, frames, skirting, vents, switches and windows with their frames. The bathroom gets a full limescale and disinfection clean. The kitchen is done with the extractor, the cooker and behind the appliances where they pull out.

What is not included is clearing and carting away — the home should be empty when we arrive. If it is not, we say so in good time rather than cleaning around objects.

Book a move-out clean — the estimate is calculated as you enter area, floors and bathrooms
What happens if the move-out clean is not approved by the landlord?

Then we come back and put it right free of charge. The guarantee is tied to the landlord's approval or the handover inspection, not to our own assessment of the job — that is the assessment you actually face. The condition is that you tell us within three working days of the inspection.

We ask to know exactly what was pointed out, so we can correct that rather than guess. In practice it is most often the oven, the window tracks or the insides of cupboards that trigger another round.

Fixed price or hourly rate — which pays off?

For a move-out clean a fixed price pays off, because the final sum is known before anyone begins. We charge NOK 87 per square metre rather than by the hour, so a slow day costs you nothing extra. For recurring cleaning an hourly rate is the more honest model, since the scope varies from visit to visit.

Hourly rates in our market typically run between NOK 450 and NOK 800, and that spread means two quotes for the same home can land very far apart. A square-metre rate is one you can work out yourself before you book.

All home services — what is priced per m², per hour and after an inspection
What does a cleaner cost per hour?

Recurring cleaning costs NOK 625 per hour per person the first time. If you have a completed home job with us that is less than 60 days old, the rate falls to NOK 550 per hour. The server checks that against the customer register automatically, so you never have to ask for the lower rate.

How often you book does not affect the hourly rate — only how recent the previous job is. We put in enough people for the work to be finished in one visit, and the hours are counted per person.

Recurring cleaning NOK 625 per hour, NOK 550 as an established customer
How long does a move-out clean take?

We plan on 10 to 15 square metres per hour per person. A 70 m² flat is therefore a morning with a small team, while a house over two floors takes a working day. You get a concrete time estimate in the confirmation, not only a price estimate.

Time depends more on condition than on floor area: a home that has been cleaned regularly goes quickly, while grease in the kitchen and limescale in the bathroom are what push the hours up.

Cleaning in Tønsberg — move-out cleans, recurring cleaning and outdoor work
What is the difference between a move-out clean, a final clean and a builders' clean?

With us there is none — they are three names for the same job at the same price of NOK 87 per square metre. «Flyttevask» is the word people use when they move out, «utvask» is used for the same thing in parts of the country, and «nedvask» is the building trade's word for the final clean after tradesmen.

We define all three as a complete clean up to handover, with the approval guarantee attached. If we are cleaning after renovation work, say so when you book: construction dust settles everywhere and needs another round.

Move-out cleaning — one definition and one price, whatever it is called
What does roof cleaning cost, and how often should a roof be cleaned?

Roof cleaning sits around NOK 9,000, with the final fixed price set after an inspection. Most roofs here need a round every three to five years, depending on how much shade and damp the roof stands in — north-facing slopes and roofs under trees grow over the fastest.

We use a gentle low-pressure method (softwash) rather than high pressure, because high pressure tears up the surface of tiles and shingle and gives the moss a better grip next time. You get before and after photographs.

Can I remove moss from the roof myself?

You can, but two things usually go wrong. A pressure washer tears up the surface of tiles and shingle, so the moss gets a better grip the following year. And a ladder against a wet, mossy roof is the most common cause of accidents in this work — the chemistry that works without pressure has to be left to work.

If there is little moss and the pitch is shallow, a soft brush and patience get you a long way. If the roof is overgrown, roof cleaning with us costs around NOK 9,000 after an inspection, with a fixed price and documentation.

Roof cleaning — what softwash does that high pressure does not
What does washing the exterior of a house cost?

Washing the exterior of a detached house sits around NOK 9,000, with a fixed price after an inspection. The price is set by wall area, number of storeys, access around the house and how much algae and green growth has taken hold. Two houses of the same floor area can present very different facades.

We use softwash with eco-labelled products rather than high pressure, which forces water in behind the cladding and wears on the paint. If the house is to be repainted afterwards, washing is the first stage of that job anyway.

Payment, cancellation and areas

How and when do I pay?

Car detailing is paid in full at booking, since the slot is then reserved as binding for you. Home jobs are paid with a deposit of 40 per cent of the estimate, or NOK 1,250 where the price can only be set after an inspection. The balance is settled once the fixed price is approved and the work is done.

Payment goes through Stripe with card, Vipps, Apple Pay or Google Pay. If the fixed price comes out higher than the estimate, you can withdraw the booking free of charge before work starts, and the deposit is refunded in full.

Terms sections 2 and 3 — booking, estimate and fixed price
Can I cancel or move the appointment?

Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before the agreed time. Cancel later than that and 50 per cent of the order value is charged; if the team has already set off for the address or begun the work, up to 100 per cent is charged. Get in touch by email or telephone and we will move the time.

If the work depends on the weather and conditions are unsuitable on the day, we move the appointment free of charge however close to it we are. That covers exterior detailing, roof cleaning, facade washing and painting.

Contact — email and telephone to move or cancel
Which areas do you cover, and what does the travel cost?

We drive out from Skiringsalgaten 6 B in Tønsberg and cover Tønsberg, Nøtterøy, Færder, Sandefjord, Horten, Holmestrand and Drammen with their surroundings. The first five kilometres are included in the price, after that the rate is NOK 20 per kilometre measured from the address you give us.

The amount is worked out in full in the booking before you confirm, so the travel never arrives as a surprise on the invoice afterwards. If you are unsure whether your address falls inside, ask us before you book.

Can I book in English?

Yes. The entire site exists in English, the booking included, and we are happy to answer in English by email and telephone. Prices, terms and confirmations are the same in both languages — the Norwegian version of the terms is the binding one, as the text itself states.

You can switch language at the top of the page at any time, and the link takes you to the same page in the other language.
